DAY 14: ANOTHER DAY AT WORK AND THE SLAMWICH

Good news and bad news. Good news: I found a new quicker route to work today. Bad news: It saved me five minutes…maybe. Oh well, I guess at this point I just have to deal with it and get used to public transportation. At work, I got to work in a different department today. I had been working in the student groups department and today, I spent my time in the events department and guess what? There was an event today. Well, sort of. There was a Courtyard “Concert” and I put concert in quotations for a reason. One of these happens every Wednesday. This week’s musical “talent” was a DJ (all the performers are students at the University) who played/whatever DJs do/mixed techno music. I’m not convinced. I think he was just playing CDs and trying to look cool. It was strange but the best part was the dancing kid. This poor guy weighed maybe 100 pounds soaking wet but he was having a great time pulling off some sick dance moves (I’m laughing right now). It was like a train wreck – you know, you don’t want to look but you can’t turn away. Either way, he provided some great entertainment to an otherwise boring performance. Oh and it was a packed house – if he played in a house that held eight.

So what did I actually do today? Well, I helped set up the “stage” and then tear it down and I addressed some envelopes. Not exactly the business experience I was hoping for but it was better than the dreaded excel spreadsheet that I am sure I will be back to on Friday…get excited.

I ate lunch at noon, which meant I was starving by the time I got home at about seven. I was told by two of my buddies down the hall that they had made a huge sandwich they dubbed the “manwich” the night before. Apparently it consisted of chicken, ham, tomato, some fairy dust and other things that they think are manly. I took this as a challenge. So tonight, I made the SLAMWICH. Listen to this music as you read the next couple of sentences (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diXUz0DrGG0). Here’s a picture.

I know what you’re thinking….Why am I drooling? How did he do it? How can I do it? You’re drooling because it was delicious. I did it using chicken, roast beef, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, cheese, a fried egg (they put ‘em on everything over here), and a roll I bought at the market down the street. I just grilled it all up in a skillet, toasted the roll and threw it all together. It was delicious and I think I’ve started a competition. Stay tuned, it could get interesting. So yes, I have resorted to blogging about a sandwich that I made. Sorry, just get used to rather boring blogs on the days I work. If there is something you would rather hear about or want to know, just let me know and I will do my best. Until next time….

Cheers!
